We use words and ideas derived from abstract moments to provide concrete evidence; that perhaps we know what we are doing, saying, making, thinking. Everything we touch, see, hear, taste, and smell is recorded in memory. These memories pile up and collide, separate themselves into tiny cells, and get lost in the depths of the brain. A maker takes these moments and projects them onto or into an object, it is the convoluted collection some confused data entry.

The first show at BBQ presents a group of works and ideas both figurative and abstract; concrete and confused, literal and lacking sense of either notion. The artists all have one thing in common—the "figure." The word that is just that; a word, a noun, a fact. The work is the artists' translation of the world. It is up to the viewer to take his or her position and move on, such is The Steak Flew Over The Rainbow.
